Crop a PDF
Cut PDF pages down to what matters: draw the area to keep, or trim the white margins automatically.
- Nothing is uploaded
- Works offline after first visit
- Open source
- No watermark · limit is your device’s memory; phones hold less
Crops PDF pages to an area you draw, or trims white margins from every page in one click. It is free, needs no account and adds no watermark, and your files are not uploaded: everything runs in your browser on your device. The size limit is your device’s memory, and phones hold less; give the page a short while after one visit to save itself for offline use, and then it works offline.
Done
Open the network tab. Your files never appear in it.
Add files and run the tool to see every request this tab makes.
Your files are processed on this device and never sent to a server. Reload the page to clear everything from memory.
How it works
- Drop the PDF. Its pages appear here, drawn in your browser.
- Press Trim white margins to crop each page to its content, or drag on a page to draw the area to keep, for every page or just that one.
- Download the cropped PDF. Text, links and images inside the area stay exactly as they were.
In your browser, not on a server
pdf.js (Apache 2.0) draws each page in your tab so you can see what you are keeping. Trim white margins renders every page at 72 dpi and finds the smallest box holding all the ink. When you save, pdf-lib (MIT) sets each page’s media and crop box to that area, mapped through the page’s rotation. The page content itself is not re-rendered, so text stays sharp and selectable and the file barely changes size.
Compared with upload-based tools: Online PDF croppers upload the whole document to change four numbers per page, and several only crop the first pages on a free plan or add a watermark. Here the file never leaves your device, every page is cropped, and nothing is added.
Verify it yourself. Give the page a short while after one visit to save itself for offline use, then turn off Wi-Fi or switch to airplane mode and run the tool again. Or open your browser's developer tools (F12, or Cmd-Option-I on a Mac), pick the Network tab, and watch it while you convert. The panel above does the same count for you.
Questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The pages are drawn and the crop is written by code running in your browser tab, so the document never leaves your device, and the page works offline after one visit and a short wait.
Does cropping lower the quality?
No. The pages are not turned into pictures: the tool changes the page boxes that tell every viewer and printer which part of the page to show. Text stays sharp at any zoom and can still be selected and searched.
Is the cropped-off part deleted?
No, it is hidden. Every PDF viewer and printer shows only the cropped area, but the content outside it is still in the file and a PDF editor can bring it back. To remove something for good, such as an account number in a margin, use the redact PDF tool instead.
What does Trim white margins do?
It looks at each page on its own and crops it to the smallest box that holds all its text and images, plus a small margin, so a page with a wide border becomes easier to read on a phone or e-reader. Pages that are already full are left alone.
Can I crop pages to different sizes?
Yes. Choose This page before you draw and the box applies only to the page you are looking at. Trim white margins always works page by page. Go to another page and draw again to crop it differently.
Why is the file almost the same size?
Because nothing is removed from the pages, only hidden. If you need a smaller file, run the cropped PDF through the compress PDF tool.
