Trim audio
Cut a song, a voice memo or a podcast down to the part you want, with fades if you like. Done on this device, never uploaded.
- Nothing is uploaded
- Works offline after first use
- Open source
- No watermark · limit is your device’s memory; phones hold less
Cuts the part you want from an MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC file, or from a video’s sound, with fades, and saves MP3 or WAV. It is free, needs no account and adds no watermark, and your files are not uploaded: everything runs in your browser on your device. The size limit is your device’s memory, and phones hold less; give the page a short while after your first run to save itself for offline use, and then it works offline.
Done
Open the network tab. Your files never appear in it.
Add files and run the tool to see every request this tab makes.
Your files are processed on this device and never sent to a server. Reload the page to clear everything from memory.
How it works
- Drop a sound file (MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC) or a video, or tap to pick one.
- Play it or click the waveform, and set the start and end. Add a fade in or out if you want.
- Trim. The part you chose is saved as an MP3 or a WAV.
In your browser, not on a server
Your browser’s own audio decoders read the file (MP3, AAC in M4A or MP4, Opus or Vorbis in WebM and OGG, FLAC, WAV) into plain samples in your tab. The part you chose is copied, faded if asked, and written as MP3 by LAME compiled to WebAssembly, or as a 16-bit WAV.
Compared with upload-based tools: Online audio cutters upload your file to a server, surround the download with ads, and some keep the file. Voice memos, interviews and unreleased tracks are private. Here the sound never leaves your device.
Verify it yourself. Give the page a short while after your first run to save itself for offline use, then turn off Wi-Fi or switch to airplane mode and run the tool again. Or open your browser's developer tools (F12, or Cmd-Option-I on a Mac), pick the Network tab, and watch it while you convert. The panel above does the same count for you.
Questions
Is my recording uploaded?
No. Your browser decodes the sound, cuts it and writes the new file in this tab. Voice memos and interviews stay on your device. There is no sign-up.
Which format should I save as?
MP3 at 192 kbps plays on every phone, car and computer and is about a tenth the size of WAV. Choose WAV to keep the sound exactly as decoded, for example to edit it further.
Can I cut the sound out of a video?
Yes. Drop the video and its sound track is loaded; the part you choose is saved as audio only.
