Record your screen with sound

Capture a tab or your whole screen with its sound and your microphone mixed together, ready for a tutorial or a bug report.

Record your screen with its sound and your voice at the same time, in the browser. It is free, and your recordings are not uploaded: everything runs in your browser on your device. Recordings are built in your device’s memory, so how long you can record depends on the device. After one visit and a short wait the page works offline.

    Working…

    Done

Your files are processed on this device and never sent to a server. Reload the page to clear everything from memory.

A walkthrough, a bug report or a recorded lesson needs two sounds: what the screen plays and what you say about it. This recorder captures both and mixes them into one sound track, so the video plays with your voice over the tab or app.

The screen’s sound is only included when you share it. In Chrome and Edge, share a tab or the entire screen and tick “Share audio” in the browser’s picker; a single window cannot share its sound. Firefox and Safari share the picture but not the sound, so there the microphone is the only sound.

Everything happens in your browser: the picture, the sound and the finished video stay on your device, with no account and no watermark.

    How it works

    1. Leave both sound options ticked and press Start recording. Allow the microphone when the browser asks.
    2. Pick a tab or the entire screen, tick “Share audio” in the picker, and press Share.
    3. Talk through what you are showing. Press Stop and save when you are done, watch it back, and download it.

In your browser, not on a server

Your browser’s own screen picker (getDisplayMedia) lets you choose what to share, and its built-in recorder (MediaRecorder) writes the video in your tab, as MP4 in Chrome, Edge and Safari or WebM in Firefox. When you stop, Mediabunny (MPL-2.0) copies the video into a fresh file without re-encoding so its length is written and players can seek it.

Compared with upload-based tools: Online screen recorders make you install an extension or desktop app, sign up, stamp a watermark on free recordings, cap them at a few minutes, and upload the video to their servers to share it. Screens show emails, chats, dashboards and customer data. Here the recording never leaves your device.

Verify it yourself. Give the page a short while after one visit to save itself for offline use, then turn off Wi-Fi or switch to airplane mode and run the tool again. Or open your browser's developer tools (F12, or Cmd-Option-I on a Mac), pick the Network tab, and watch it while you convert. The panel above does the same count for you.

    Questions

Why can’t I hear the screen’s sound in the video?

It was not shared. Start again, choose a tab or the entire screen (not a window), and tick “Share audio” before pressing Share. On a Mac, Chrome can only share the sound of a tab, not the whole system.

My voice echoes. How do I stop it?

Wear headphones. With speakers, the microphone picks up the screen’s sound a second time. The recorder turns on the browser’s echo cancellation, which helps, but headphones fix it.

How do I check my microphone before I record?

Run the mic test first: speak, watch the level and play back five seconds to hear how you sound.

Can I record only my voice over a silent screen?

Yes. Untick “Sound from the screen or tab” and keep “My microphone” ticked.
