Make a LinkedIn profile picture

A professional-looking headshot from the photo you already have, made on your device.

Make a clean LinkedIn profile photo from a selfie: background replaced with a soft colour, face centred, 1024 px square. It is free, needs no account and adds no watermark, and your files are not uploaded: everything runs in your browser on your device. The first run downloads the face finder, the cut-out model and the WebAssembly engines that run them (about 46 MB in all) to your browser, and after that the tool works offline.

    Working…

    Done

Your files are processed on this device and never sent to a server. Reload the page to clear everything from memory.

LinkedIn says profiles with a photo get far more views, and recruiters look at the picture before anything else. It does not need a studio: a clear, well-lit photo of your face, framed as a headshot, on a calm background reads as professional. What usually lets a home photo down is what is behind you, such as a kitchen, a car interior or a crowd.

This page replaces that background with a soft blue-grey, frames the picture around your face the way a photographer would, with your face about 40% of the width and your eyes just above the middle, and saves it as a 1024 pixel square. LinkedIn shows profile pictures at 400 × 400 and crops them to a circle, so a larger square stays sharp and nothing important sits in the corners.

AI headshot services ask you to upload a dozen selfies and often keep them. Here the photo you drop never leaves your browser, and there is nothing to pay.

    How it works

    1. Take or pick a photo facing the camera in daylight from a window, shoulders in frame, with a natural expression.
    2. Drop it here. Keep the soft blue-grey or pick another colour.
    3. Download the JPG and upload it on LinkedIn: Me, View profile, then the camera icon on your picture.

In your browser, not on a server

Two open models run in your tab: MediaPipe’s BlazeFace (Apache 2.0) finds your face and eyes, and ISNet on onnxruntime-web cuts you out of the photo. The cut-out is scaled and placed so the face sits in the standard headshot position, over a solid colour, clipped to a circle if you choose, and saved at 1024 × 1024 by your browser.

Compared with upload-based tools: Profile picture and AI headshot apps upload your face, often keep it to train models, and charge for the full-size file. Here your photo is processed on your device, and the result is yours at full size with no watermark.

Verify it yourself. Give the page a short while after your first run to save itself for offline use, then turn off Wi-Fi or switch to airplane mode and run the tool again. Or open your browser's developer tools (F12, or Cmd-Option-I on a Mac), pick the Network tab, and watch it while you convert. The panel above does the same count for you.

    Questions

What makes a good LinkedIn photo?

Your face filling a good part of the frame, looking at the camera, in soft even light, dressed as you would for work in your field. Recent, so people recognise you when they meet you. A plain background keeps the attention on your face, which is what this page adds.

Which background colour is most professional?

Soft, cool tones such as light blue-grey, pale grey or off-white look calm and work with most skin tones and clothes. Strong brand colours can work for designers and founders who want to stand out; avoid colours close to your hair or clothing so the edges stay clear.

Can I use the same picture on other sites?

Yes. The 1024 pixel square works for Slack, Teams, Google, Zoom, GitHub and conference badges. Most crop to a circle, which this framing allows for.

Should I also update my LinkedIn banner?

The banner is a separate 1584 × 396 image. Keep it simple and not too busy, so it does not fight with the profile picture that sits over its bottom-left corner.

    Is the file uploaded anywhere?

No. There is no server in this process. The page is a static file and the work is done by code running inside your browser tab. Give the page a short while after your first run to save itself for offline use; then you can turn off Wi-Fi and it still works.
