Discord banner resizer

A profile banner at Discord’s 5:2 shape, with no awkward crop in the app, made on this device.

Resize an image to a 5:2 Discord profile banner, or type 960×540 for a server banner, under the upload limit. It is free, needs no account and adds no watermark, and your files are not uploaded: everything runs in your browser on your device. The size limit is your device’s memory, and phones hold less; give the page a short while after one visit to save itself for offline use, and then it works offline.

The highest quality that fits is picked for each image; if even the lowest does not fit, the picture is made smaller.

    Working…

    Done

Your files are processed on this device and never sent to a server. Reload the page to clear everything from memory.

Discord profile banners are 5:2, at least 600 × 240, and the app’s cropper is fiddly on a phone. Server banners, shown above the channel list once a server reaches boost level 2, are 16:9 and at least 960 × 540.

This page makes a 1200 × 480 profile banner, twice the minimum so it stays sharp on high-density screens, cropped around the centre of your picture. For a server banner, change the width and height to 960 and 540 or 1920 and 1080. The file is kept under Discord’s 10 MB limit.

Your avatar covers the lower left of a profile banner, so keep that corner free of anything important.

    How it works

    1. Drop the picture.
    2. Keep 1200 × 480 for a profile, or type 960 × 540 for a server.
    3. Press Make the banner and upload it in User Settings, Profiles.

In your browser, not on a server

Resizing uses stepped downscaling on a canvas so text and edges stay sharp, and the browser encodes the result at the quality you choose. Everything happens in memory in your tab. Large batches are processed one image at a time so the page stays responsive on a phone.

Compared with upload-based tools: Image compressors that upload your photos limit you to a few files, a small size, or a watermark until you pay. This one has no counter to reset because there is no server to keep one.

Verify it yourself. Give the page a short while after one visit to save itself for offline use, then turn off Wi-Fi or switch to airplane mode and run the tool again. Or open your browser's developer tools (F12, or Cmd-Option-I on a Mac), pick the Network tab, and watch it while you convert. The panel above does the same count for you.

    Questions

Can I make an animated GIF banner?

Not on this page; it saves one still picture. Nitro members can upload an animated GIF at the same 5:2 shape instead.

    Do I need Nitro?

A profile banner image needs Nitro; without it Discord shows a solid colour. Server banners need the server to reach boost level 2. The file itself is the same either way.

    Why 1200 × 480 and not 600 × 240?

Phones and many laptops have screens with two or three pixels per point, so a banner at twice the minimum looks crisp there and still fits easily under the limit.

Where do I put an invite splash?

Invite splash backgrounds, unlocked at boost level 1, are 16:9 like server banners but shown full screen behind an invite, so type 1920 × 1080 for them.

    Is the file uploaded anywhere?

No. There is no server in this process. The page is a static file and the work is done by code running inside your browser tab. Give the page a short while after one visit to save itself for offline use; then you can turn off Wi-Fi and it still works.
