Rotate or flip a GIF
Turn an animated GIF a quarter, half or three-quarter turn, or mirror it. Every frame keeps its timing, and the GIF stays on this device.
- Nothing is uploaded
- Works offline after first visit
- Open source
- No watermark. The limit is your device’s memory (phones hold less): a long or very large GIF may need a computer.
Turns an animated GIF by 90°, 180° or 270° or flips it horizontally or vertically, keeping every frame, its timing and the loop. It is free, needs no account and adds no watermark, and your files are not uploaded: everything runs in your browser on your device. No watermark. The limit is your device’s memory (phones hold less): a long or very large GIF may need a computer.

Open the network tab. Your files never appear in it.
Add files and run the tool to see every request this tab makes.
Your files are processed on this device and never sent to a server. Reload the page to clear everything from memory.
How it works
- Drop one or more animated GIFs, or tap to pick them.
- Choose 90° right, 180° or 90° left, and tick a flip if you want one.
- Press Rotate. Each GIF keeps its frames, timing and loop; one downloads straight away, several download as a zip.
In your browser, not on a server
gifuct-js (MIT) reads the GIF byte by byte in your tab and every frame is composited the way browsers play it, so partial frames and disposal rules are resolved into whole pictures. Each frame is turned and mirrored on a canvas by your browser, and gifenc’s (MIT) colour quantizer and LZW coder write the frames back with their delays and the loop setting. The new GIF is assembled in memory.
Compared with upload-based tools: Here the GIF is turned in this tab: the file is not uploaded, the limit is your device’s memory (phones hold less), and no watermark is added.
Verify it yourself. Give the page a short while after one visit to save itself for offline use, then turn off Wi-Fi or switch to airplane mode and run the tool again. Or open your browser's developer tools (F12, or Cmd-Option-I on a Mac), pick the Network tab, and watch it while you convert. The panel above does the same count for you.
Questions
Does rotating a GIF keep it animated?
Yes. Every frame is turned and written back with its own delay, and the loop setting is copied, so the result plays exactly as the original did, only turned.
Why do the width and height swap?
A quarter turn makes a landscape GIF portrait and the other way round, so a 400 by 300 GIF comes out 300 by 400. A half turn keeps the size.
Is the turn clockwise?
90° right is clockwise and 90° left is counter-clockwise. The flip is applied after the turn: horizontal mirrors left to right, vertical mirrors top to bottom.
Is my GIF uploaded?
No. The GIF is decoded and rewritten by code running in this page, with no server in the process, and the limit is your device’s memory (phones hold less). The page keeps working offline after one visit and a short wait.
